Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) today suspended the spectrum of Citycell as the mobile phone operator failed to pay Tk 477.63 crore in dues.
“We have suspended the spectrum of Citycell around 6:00pm,”BTRC Chairman Shahjahan Mahmood told The Daily Star.
State Minister for Posts and Telecommunications Tarana Halimsaid they suspended the Citycell’s spectrum in line with the Telecommunication Act as it could not pay the dues on time after getting a court order.
“Now, there is no way to return back from the suspension. Next steps will be the cancellation of its license,” she said while addressing a press conference at BTRC office this evening.
