Cyclone Nada likely to intensify in Bay, signal 2 at sea ports

Met office bulletin said “Nada” was centred about 1660km southwest of Chittagong port, 1605km southwest of Cox’s Bazar port, 1545km southwest of Mongla port and 1540km southwest of Payra port till 6am Thursday.

It is likely to intensify further and move in a west- north-westerly direction, the bulletin added.

Maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted distant warning signal No 2.


All fishing boats and trawlers over north bay and deep sea have been advised not to venture into the deep sea and proceed with caution till further notice.


A turn more toward the west on Thursday will take the cyclone into Tamil Nadu somewhere between Nagapattinam and Chennai.

Heavy rain and strong winds will remain offshore until Thursday and Thursday night as the cyclone approaches the coast.
