5 killed as Kolkata-bound Maitree Express train rams car in Gazipur

Five people were killed while a private car collided with a Kolkata-bound 'Maitree Express' train at Goalbathan rail crossing in Kaliakoir upazila of the district this morning.

After the incident, train communication of Dhaka with the northern region has remained suspended.

Of the deceased, two were women, two children and driver of the private car.

Station Master of Joydebpur railway station Md Shahidul Islam said the incident took place around 9:15am in the area when the car was crossing the rail tracks through the level crossing.
