13 sectors close higher, 6 face mild corrections

Majority number of the sectors performed well last week on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) that ended Thursday as the enthusiastic investors continued their buying spree on sector specific stocks.


Of the 19 sectors listed on the Dhaka bourse, except corporate bonds, debenture and treasury bonds, the market capitalisation of 15 sectors closed higher while four saw mild correction, according to weekly analysis of DSE and the LankaBangla Securities.


Among the gaining sectors, six sectors posted more than 5.0 per cent gain with non-bank financial institutions (NBFI) witnessed the highest gain of 16.08 per cent riding on state-run Investment Corporation of Bangladesh (ICB). Share price of ICB soared 33.80 per cent. It was also the week's highest gainer.


LankaBangla Finance also appreciated 9.0 per cent, followed by Union Capital with 7.60 per cent, Uttara Finance 6.60 per cent and Bay Leasing 3.80 per cent.


Among other gaining sectors, mutual funds also advanced 9.81 per cent, followed by insurance 7.74 per cent, paper and printing 6.08 per cent, textile 5.29 per cent, jute 5.31 per cent and miscellaneous 3.92 per cent.
