BGB Drives in March: Smuggled goods, drugs worth TK 98.93cr seized

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has recovered a huge quantity of smuggled goods and illegal drugs worth about Taka 98.93 crore from different bordering areas of the country last month, said an official release.


The smuggled goods and contraband items included 15,02,143 pieces of yaba pills, 27,151 bottles of phensidyl, 5.331 kg of heroin, 1, 434 kg of cannabis, 25,350 bottles of foreign liquor, 13,683 pieces of contraband injections, and 17,17,715 pieces of illegal tablets, 11,559 pieces of sarees, 3,375 pieces of three piece, 1,693 meter clothes, 203 readymade dresses, 43,445 CFT wood, and 3.200 gram of gold.


BGB personnel also recovered six pistols, six guns, 39 round bullets, four magazines, one mortar-shell, and a hand bomb during the period.


They also arrested 141 people for their suspected link to smuggle goods and drugs and arrested 129 Bangladeshi nationals for illegal trespass and handed them over to police. They also captured 13 Indian citizens for illegally intruding to Bangladesh territory. Eleven of them were handed over to Indian Border Security Force (BSF) while two others to police stations.
